Wall clock "Red Planet"
The central part of this wall clock looks like a Martian surface: dark red and black curves like a rock and mounting shadows. A black frame around is as a symbol of surrounding space.
The clock was made using a fused glass technique named "glass combing". I used a steel hook to rake a molten glass surface at a temperature close to 1700F (925 C). A resultant pattern is unique and hardly could be repeated.
Central part is thick and solid, while the black frame is thin which makes the clock not too heavy.
The clock has a battery powered quartz movement which is very precise. Usually you need to replace batteries only once in 1.5 - 2 years depending on battery type. One AA battery is required.
Dimensions: 11 x 11 inches.
